Kuensel: Anju Gurung’s team Falcons lead FairBreak tournament


Anju Gurung’s team Falcons are leading the tournament with nine points from three games in the ongoing first world FairBreak Invitational Women’s T20 Cricket tournament in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Falcons lost their third game on May 7 against Spirit by 27 runs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium and secured only one point.

South Africa’s Ayabonga Khaka, is the talk of the town at the Fairbreak Invitational tournament in Dubai after becoming the first player to bag a five-wicket haul in the inaugural six-team edition.

Khaka, playing for the Spirit Women, took 5/9 to earn the Player of the Match award, as her team beat the Sapphires Women by 55 runs.

Shizuka Miyaji, currently 40, is representing Japan in the inaugural FairBreak Invitational Tournament held in Dubai and is already rubbing shoulders with the world stars like Bismah Maroof, Sophie Ecclestone, and Sophia Dunkley.

Being denied to play cricket at a club once, Shizuka didn’t give up on her sporting dreams. Cricket happened to her by accident at her university and there was no looking back after that. She went on to play for Japan and also lead her side.
